What we collect

Depending on how you use Langbrella, we may collect:

We only collect information that we reasonably need to provide, operate and improve Langbrella.

‍

How we use your info

We use personal information to:

Our lawful bases under UK data protection law are primarily contract, where processing is necessary to provide a service you have requested; legitimate interests, where reasonably necessary to operate, improve and protect Langbrella; consent, where we specifically ask for it; and legal obligation, where we are required to keep or use information by law.

You can withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it.

‍

Live event recordings

Some Langbrella Live sessions are recorded so that members who cannot attend can benefit from them later.

Masterclasses, Open Mic sessions and Monthly Q&As are normally recorded. Conversation Clubs are not normally recorded.

Recordings may be made available to current and future Langbrella members. Extracts from Masterclasses may also be used on the Langbrella website, YouTube or social media.

We will tell you when a session is being recorded. You can protect your privacy by keeping your camera and microphone off and, where appropriate, changing your display name. For Open Mic sessions and Q&As, you may also ask us not to include your individual contribution in material we publish.

We will not use an identifiable member's contribution from a Conversation Club or other non-routinely recorded session for public promotional purposes without appropriate permission.

We use trusted third-party services to operate Langbrella. These may include:

These services process information under their own privacy and security arrangements. We only share information with them where reasonably necessary to provide the relevant service.

Some providers may process information outside the UK. Where UK data protection rules apply to an international transfer, we use providers and transfer arrangements that provide an appropriate legal basis or safeguard under UK data protection law. You can contact us if you would like more information about these arrangements.

We do not sell your personal information.

‍

Padlet & community contributions

Anything you choose to share in a learning or community space, including written posts, audio recordings and videos, may be seen or heard by other people who have access to that space. Please avoid sharing personal or sensitive information that you would prefer to keep private.
