Today's challenge presents a sentence, conversation or short passage with some words or expressions missing.
Read for meaning. Before filling any gaps, read the entire text. What's happening? What is the speaker or writer trying to communicate?
Complete the gaps. Choose words or expressions that make sense in context. Think about grammar, vocabulary, collocations and the natural flow of English.
Read it again. Once you've completed the text, read the whole thing aloud. Does it sound natural? Does the meaning remain clear?
Don't assume that every gap has only one possible answer. Sometimes several different choices work equally well — or produce interesting differences in meaning.
Extra challenge: Find an alternative answer for one or more gaps. How does your choice affect the meaning, tone or style?
When you're ready, reveal the suggested answers and compare them with your own.
Remember: a good answer isn't simply grammatically possible. It should also make sense in the situation.
