Let's Begin!

A busy team is preparing for an important client meeting. Unfortunately, some of their messages could do with a little attention.

Read the six messages. Four need attention: three contain grammar problems and one has a problem with tone. Two are perfectly fine. For each, decide whether you’d change anything. If so, write a better version and explain why.

  1. Daniel: “We discussed about the budget yesterday.”
  2. Aisha: “Could you send me the latest version when you get a chance?”
  3. Marco: “I explained her the problem, but she still looks confused.”
  4. Priya: “We have finished the report yesterday.”
  5. Tom (draft email to a client): “Hi Rachel, your proposal is a bit of a mess. Can you sort it out? Cheers!”
  6. Sofia: “I’m looking forward to meeting everyone on Thursday.”

Extra challenge: Tom insists that his email is grammatically correct. He’s right! Write him a short, diplomatic message explaining why he still shouldn’t send it.
