You need:
Your language detective skills

Quick Start

3
Reveal the answer & compare

Let's Begin!

A museum has opened an exhibition of fictional signs that could cause some very real confusion. A few are fine; others would be better with one small change.

Read each sign. Say what you think the writer intended. Then decide whether to correct, clarify or leave it alone.

  1. At a library: “Please leave your belongings unattended.”
  2. At a doorway: “Please keep this door close.”
  3. At a railway station: “Mind the gap.”
  4. At a café: “Free Wi-Fi for costumers.”
  5. At a park: “Please do not feed the ducks.”
  6. At a bicycle shop: “We repair bicycles while you wait.”

Extra challenge: Invent an absurd sign that is grammatically correct but easy to misinterpret. Then make it genuinely useful, with no more than ten extra words.
